problem is fixed by using =x11-drivers/xf86-input-joystick-1.2.1 or by unplugging the joystick Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.update to latest xorg-x11 7.2 2.try to startx or gdm with joystick plugged in 3.
x11, should a more recent version of -joystick be stabled?
At least the already stable version 1.1.1 should work, doesn't it? Version 1.2.0 contains lots of bugs and should safely be removed from portage. I think 1.2.1 is good enough to become stable on at least x86.

I'm going to resolve this as fixed, since it is working fine in the latest versions. Marking them stable is a different issue and may not happen until 7.3 is released later this month.
