I can confirm this. I've been getting a nasty crash in gaim 2.0.0b6 and still in pidgin 2.0.0. The stack trace usually has something to do with a segfault in GStreamer calls, although I'm having trouble rerproducing it reliably as it only happens one time in three (though almost always at startup). I tried rebuilding USE=-gstreamer last night and pidgin is still linked against it. That said, sound is reduced to "Console Beep" only, and it hasn't crashed (yet). So maybe the use flag sorta works, but clearly something is screwy. AfC
This is an upstream bug.. http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/1306
