Description Klaus-J. Wolf 2003-03-17 19:08:19 UTC
IMHO, /usr is not an ideal pleace for libraries...:

# qpkg -l silc|tail -n5
/usr/share/silc/themes/default.theme
/usr/libsilc.a
/usr/libsilcclient.la
/usr/libsilc.la

# emerge -s silc

Comment 3 Martin Holzer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-03-18 14:15:13 UTC
please reemerge and see if it's corrected
Comment 4 Klaus-J. Wolf 2003-03-18 19:30:30 UTC
I was waiting for a new silc-client version to appear... then I realized you probably mean, "reemerge with currently installed portage".

I did so - with the results being the same.

Actually, no. I meant that those library locations are actually hard-coded into
SILC, in really ugly places that are not easy to fix. When upstream puts them in a saner location, Gentoo will get it as well, but I don't have the code-fu to fix where they are now, I'm afraid. I'm going to have to future this bug because of that. I wish I could help. :/ I'll take the bug under my wing, though, in the hopes that (someday) they'll fix this madness. If someone else wants to hack on the source, feel free--I already tried that to fix this once, with disastrous results.

Fixed in the latest release. Marking RESOLVED FIXED.
