Description tomas charvat 2007-05-01 14:58:05 UTC
Im trying to follow above mentioned guide, but i can compile libdomainkeys clearly. however im able to install them via emerge w/o problem. Im also able to patch qmail w/o problem, but then again "make qmail-dk" end with error. Since you need "just libdomainkeys and qmail sources" to compile standalone qmail-dk binary, it might be possible to create ebuild just for qmail-dk.

However i didnt even manage to compile it on gentoo.

Reproducible: Always

I don't get it. Are you asking for something?

In the world of Free Software, you don't ask someone else to do something for you for free. Or well, you can, but don't expect anything out of it. Most of the time people do something because they need or want it themselves. Otherwise you've to pay them to do something for you.

We (Gentoo developers) offer to put ebuilds into portage if there's a maintainer, be that either a Gentoo developer or an external proxy maintainer (who needs a proven reliability).
Comment 7 Wernfried Haas (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-05-02 09:12:11 UTC
tomas,
as explained by hansmi, Gentoo relies on the help of people willing to contribute instead of simply demanding an ebuild. If you are willing to offer your help and work together with people, i'm sure things can be sorted out.

Furthermore, on behalf of the proctors i'd like to remind you of Gentoo's Code of Conduct, which can be found here: http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/council/coc.xml
Please keep it in mind when interacting on Gentoo's public media and refrain from calling people names in the future.

As this is semi-OT in this bug report, let's get back to work - if anyone has unaddressed issues, please email proctors@gentoo.org.

Thanks,
Wernfried

So basicaly now we can go back to my problem....

Somehow im not able to compile qmail-dk binary from clear source on gentoo.
Since how-to, that i posted is quite easy and i manage to reproduce this error always, i would be glad if those, who are interesting in getting qmail-dk into portage, could check that guide and post some comments with results.

If somebody have no clue, whats going on here, im trying to help with qmail-dk ebuild and i run into problems, that im not able to solve. Problems seems to be related to Gentoo.

I can only talk for myself, but if you want any help, please post the error messages because I won't go into the trouble of even trying it out because I'm not really interested in it. That doesn't mean I wouldn't help if I'd seen the error message(s) and knew what might cause them.

Well... i tried to reproduce this problem again to post compile errors and error is gone.

I merged new release of glibc. Update has been released today. So now there is clear way to create ebuild.
I will do some testing and post ebuild if this qmail extension will work well.

I also tried building qmail-dk according to that howto...

http://jeremy.kister.net/howto/dk.html

...but it didn't work. Any fix coming for this? A qmail-dk ebuild would be great!

This package is obsolete, there is no point to waste time with this anymore.
