With zeroconf enabled kdebase depends on mDNSResponder which cannot be installed together with Avahi. However kdebase compiles fine with "--enable-dnssd" with Avahi installed using the "mdnsresponder-compat" flag.
Yes really unnecessarily. I did set in both "make.conf" plus in "package.use" "-zeroconf" and -avahi too, and in both times it will be ignored. The failure is, that this uninterresting network feature can not be disabled with useflags. I'm not willing to install zeroconf onto my 3 computers, because I have set up a DHCP server plus a range of defined IP-Adresses mit MAC-address accesstables. For what I do need a second DNS server system at all, there only 3 computers in my network, which can be set up by hand so quickly and with dhcp too? No never I'm willing to install such an insecure network here. Failure report: Local useflags did not work.
