Description Andrey Melentyev 2007-04-25 06:09:18 UTC
URL points to trac ticket at the aircrack-ng site. It seems that bug won't be fixed upstream, they said that its a udev problem. Please take a look there for better explanation.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge aircrack-ng, madwifi-ng
2. try to add a new Virtual Access Point using airmon-ng (especially when there is no other VAPs exist)

Actual Results:
laptop rikz # airmon-ng start wifi0 9

Interface Chipset Driver

wifi0 Atheros madwifi-ngError for wireless request "Set Frequency" (8B04) :
SET failed on device ath0 ; No such device.

eth1 Centrino b/g ipw2200
ath4 Atheros madwifi-ng VAP (parent: wifi0)

Expected Results:
Something like that:
laptop rikz # airmon-ng start wifi0 9

Interface Chipset Driver

wifi0 Atheros madwifi-ng
eth1 Centrino b/g ipw2200
ath4 Atheros madwifi-ng VAP (parent: wifi0)
ath5 Atheros madwifi-ng VAP (parent: wifi0) (monitor mode enabled)
