Description Harlan H. Bloom 2007-04-24 13:39:22 UTC
I noticed this behavior with Evolution 2.6.2, I currently have 2.8.3 installed, and it is still happening. I have crash dumps from 2.6.2 through 2.8.3.

I cannot leave Evolution running continuously because some of its processes fail if running too long. Therefore I need to shutdown at the end of the day, this includes doing a --force-shutdown and then killing any processes that are left.

I start up evolution the next day, usually without any noticeable problems. Most of the time when I try to send my first email of the day, it will hang for a bit, then a bug window pops up asking me to save the file; I have 11 crash/dump files for someone to look at.

This is my work system; I am very fortunate that my employer allows me to run Gentoo Linux at work. I need the Evolution because is it has what I need to do my job effectively. That said, a large part of my job is sending and receiving email; this gets a little tough at times when my email programs keep crashing. If we can get this stabilized, we might get a few more converts. :)

Thank you for report, Harlan. But could you, please, recompile evolution, evolution-data-server, evolution-exchange and evolution-ical with debugging symbols as described in

http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/qa/backtraces.xml

gather backtrace after that and reopen bug? At the moment backtraces you attached are hardly usable.
