Whatever the mirror, when emerge gnome i got this error for the first file :

Please don't randomly assign bugs to herds :) FYI, owners are written in /usr/portage/<category>/<pkg>/metadata.xml

It works fine here.  Maybe you have a really old tree?  Try syncing first and then trying again.

Attach your 'emerge --info' and re-open this bug if it fails again.
