Description Juan Manuel 2007-04-21 12:50:27 UTC
I have beryl-core 0.2.1 installed with Xgl and driver ATI (fglrx), and when update my system using "emerge -DuN world", beryl start but does not open aplication, and does not answer.

Look for help in the Gentoo forums and found the reason of the problem:
randrproto 1.2 and libXrandr 1.2.0. They cause problems.

The solution: emerge -av1 =randrproto-1.1.2 =libXrandr-1.1.1
and my Desktop return !!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.update randrproto and libXrandr (emerge -DuN world)
2.startxgl (start kde + Xgl + Beryl)
3. Beryl slow and does not open aplication (Very unstable)

See http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-4019833.html#4019833.

It is my first report, sorry if I have not done it well.

Remerge xorg-server after updating those libs, see http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=175196 and http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=174959#c7

okie, someone beat me to posting the solution...

Same problem here but the proposed solution doesn't work for me. I had to reemerge x11-base/xgl because it depends on randrproto and now everything works perfectly.

I also reemerged beryl-core (depends on libXrandr) but now I think that this last action was useless :)

new release of upstream is coming..and beryl itself is now depreciated from upstream in favor of the joint effort.
