Description Mohammed Elzubeir 2003-03-14 14:14:26 UTC
I tried to unmerge and did
# emerge unmerge eog
# USE="png" emerge eog
Still, unable to view PNG images. I have media-libs/libpng (1.2.5-r1).
I was also able to view PNG images via eog prior to upgrading from GNOME 2.0 to
GNOME 2.2

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load eo
2. Try to open png image

Actual Results:
"Could not open `file:///path/to/file.png'" dialog box pops up.

Expected Results:
View the PNG image.

this shouldn't be mine, i'm bumping it to gnome@gentoo, not sure why he put this in the keychain category...

does the file open nicely in another application, such as gqview or the gimp?

does file <file> tell you it is an ok png file?

does eog <filename> work ?
does eog "file:///home/spider/Nautilus-i18nBug.png" (or eqiv. ) work?

Considering that eog works for me here (version 2.2.1) I'm wondering what is the case here.
Comment 3 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-03-17 18:43:21 UTC
and ofcourse, did you have png in USE at the time of compiling eog ?
Comment 4 Mohammed Elzubeir 2003-03-18 16:32:50 UTC
Nevermind, please close this bug report. I seem to have had to explicitly add the png library (USE="png"?) .. though it seems that this should be the default.

Works fine for me though.
