When installing from the 1.1a stage1 CD the chroot, env-update, source 
sequence no longer appears to run bash. At the very least the docs are out of 
date. At the most it's a little confusing.

I can confirm that it didn't seem to source /etc/profile correctly, but haven't 
looked into that problem further myself.
