Ever after a new emerge sync my emerge thinks gcc 3.1.1 and glibc 2.2.5 are current. I need never versions. I added ~x86 but then I can't even "emerge -pu world": These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating world dependencies / !!! all ebuilds that could satisfy ">=sys-devel/gcc-3.2.1-r6" have been masked. !!! (dependency required by "dev-libs/elfutils-0.76" [ebuild]) !!! Problem with ebuild app-arch/rpm-4.2 !!! Possibly a DEPEND/*DEPEND problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge sync 2. emerge -pu world 3. emerge search gcc (says gcc-3.1.1 is current) Actual Results: I'm stuck with obsolete glibc and gcc versions. Expected Results: install the current gcc and glibc. I really need gcc 3.2.2 (I'm a developer) and a current glibc.
where does make.profile point to?
/etc/make.profile -> /usr/portage/profiles/default-1.0-gcc3
link it to default-x86-1.4 to get the updated gcc and glibc..
