Description Sebastian Stammler 2007-04-17 14:41:43 UTC
hum, I just installed acroread-7.0.9-r1 version (on amd64) and when starting acroread, following error occurrs: "Failed to load Pango module for id: 'BasicScriptEngineFc'
(acroread:8003): Pango-WARNING **: /emul/linux/x86/usr/lib/pango/1.5.0/modules/pango-basic-fc.so: Kann die Shared-Object-Datei nicht öffnen: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden"
(I'm sorry that the error message includes german text, but you know what it means...)
I had to do
# cd /emul/linux/x86/usr/lib
# ln -s ../../../../../usr/lib32/pango
for getting acroread working.
I use app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-gtklibs-10.0-r1 which provides pango.
Is it a real problem/bug or have I just done a mistake?
ah, and I compiled acroread with the following USE flags: "linguas_de -linguas_en cups ldap nsplugin"

This looks like it could be the same problem as bug 109574?

I don't speak german so I'm not sure but it appears to have the same basic problem.

Ok translated into english it means:

"Failed to load Pango module for id:
'BasicScriptEngineFc'
(acroread:8003): Pango-WARNING **:
/emul/linux/x86/usr/lib/pango/1.5.0/modules/pango-basic-fc.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

so yes, it is approximately the same problem. But, I solved it, I just wanted to mention. I'm wondering that such a symlink problem occures.
Comment 3 Kevin F. Quinn (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-04-19 21:16:13 UTC
Not an issue with acroread itself - reassigning.
Comment 4 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2007-04-22 09:50:02 UTC
It works fine for me

Do you have your system updated?

emerge --sync
emerge -avuDN world
revdep-rebuild

emul-linux-x86-gtklibs-10.0-r1 installs to /usr/lib32, not to /emul; so your LDPATH looks to be messed up.
