Description Simon Cooper 2007-04-17 09:54:52 UTC
On booting 2.6.20-r6, I get the following message and startup hangs:

0000:00:d0.0: Cannot adjust BAR0 (not I/O)

d0.0 is the IDE interface (nVidia Corporation MCP51 IDE (rev f1))

I have an MCP51 chipset. It is a known problem, see URL for lkml discussion
Comment 1 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-04-18 14:11:52 UTC
Which is the last good known working kernel? Is this the last message that appears before the hang? Have you tried backing out the patch referenced there?
Comment 2 Simon Cooper 2007-04-18 14:59:50 UTC
yup, backing out the patch makes the kernel bootable. Also had the same problem with -r5

appears before the hang?
Comment 4 Simon Cooper 2007-04-18 17:21:23 UTC
oh, sorry. Latest working kernel is 2.6.20-r3, the last three messages are:

ACPI: PCI Root Bridge [PCI0] (0000:00)
ACPI: Assume root bridge [\_SB_.PCI0] bus is 0
0000:00:0d.0 Cannnot adjust BAR0 (not I/O)

Thats the only error that I can see

Comment 8 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-05-02 18:29:19 UTC
