On booting 2.6.20-r6, I get the following message and startup hangs: 0000:00:d0.0: Cannot adjust BAR0 (not I/O) d0.0 is the IDE interface (nVidia Corporation MCP51 IDE (rev f1)) I have an MCP51 chipset. It is a known problem, see URL for lkml discussion
Which is the last good known working kernel? Is this the last message that appears before the hang? Have you tried backing out the patch referenced there?
yup, backing out the patch makes the kernel bootable. Also had the same problem with -r5
Which is the last good known working kernel? Is this the last message that appears before the hang?
oh, sorry. Latest working kernel is 2.6.20-r3, the last three messages are: ACPI: PCI Root Bridge [PCI0] (0000:00) ACPI: Assume root bridge [\_SB_.PCI0] bus is 0 0000:00:0d.0 Cannnot adjust BAR0 (not I/O) Thats the only error that I can see
This issue should be fixed in 2.6.21 and 2.6.20.11 .
