What on earth installed /etc/init.d/plugins as a directory?

Getting that directory there is only possible if you at some point run azureus as root in /etc/init.d/. Azureus used to have a problem that it created the plugins directory to the current directory but that has been fixed for some time. You can check the directory creation time to see how long that directory has been there. Also please note this warning from Azureus: ewarn "Please, do not run azureus as root!" ewarn "Azureus has not been developed for multi-user environments!"
