Description Craig Andrews gentoo-dev 2007-04-13 18:02:23 UTC
Whenever a service is started or stopped, I get this error:

/lib64/rcscripts//sh/gendepends.sh: line 36: .: /etc/init.d/plugins: is a directory

I'm using sys-apps/baselayout-2.0.0_alpha1

And here's my emerge --info:
irrational gregarius # emerge --info

What on earth installed /etc/init.d/plugins as a directory?

irrational plugins # ls -R
.:
azupdater

./azupdater:
plugin.properties

It seems that would be azureus.

If you run qfile /etc/init.d/plugins you will most likely see that nothing owns that directory. Getting that directory there is only possible if you at some point run azureus as root in /etc/init.d/. Azureus used to have a problem that it created the plugins directory to the current directory but that has been fixed for some time. You can check the directory creation time to see how long that directory has been there. Also please note this warning from Azureus:

ewarn "Please, do not run azureus as root!"
ewarn "Azureus has not been developed for multi-user environments!"

Alright - I'll just delete the directory. I must have done that sometime long long ago. Thank you for your help!
