shttpd changed their tar structure and build format. Attached is an ebuild that works for me. Old stuff is commented out. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: changes: use flag "auth" will turn on and off http realm authentication use flag "debug" will turn on debug information notes: 1. I have to use glibc's libdl.a library... 2. shttpd no longer includes a .pem file... if ssl flag is set, it'd probably be best to generate a .pem 3. I dunno if the -DMT makes a difference any more. It may in one of the headers... not sure 4. also the same with dmalloc. Not sure if that makes a difference or not either.

could you perhaps attach a unified diff to the latest version in portage? it helps to get an estimate of how much work is required to get it into the tree (and thus may get it into the tree faster). thanks for your contribution - it is definitively appreciated. kind regards Thilo

Created attachment 125481 [details] shttpd-1.38-ebuild.patch
Created an ebuild based on the 1.37 ebuild attached for 1.38, and also attached diff between 1.35 and 1.38 ebuilds
1.38 can't go in before the security issue has been fixed. thanks for the ebuilds anyhow. they will come in handy, when a patch for the issue is available.
going to the homepage http://shttpd.sourceforge.net/ there is a link to go to http://code.google.com/p/mongoose/ which seams to be the successor of shttpd.
in preparation of the pending removal.
Mongoose 5.3 is in the tree now.
