on a freshly installed liveCD stage3 system "emerge kde" died.
It happened during the "kde-base/kdegraphics-3.1" compilation

here is the last message I receives :

Steps to Reproduce:
1.install system 1.4_rc3 x86
2.emerge -u world
3.emerge kde




pentium II 366, hitachi laptop 270SX.
C++ optimisation (CXXFLAGS) turned off.

my "Use" flag :
"X gtk alsa avi canna dga directfb gtk2 mmx sdl bonobo crypt cjk encode flash 
gd ggi gphoto2 gpm jpeg mpeg oggvorbis opengl pmcia python ruby samba slp 
truetype x86 xv xml2"

This got assigned to all the wrong people, and so delayed. Reassigning...

You should try running opengl-update. If using the nvidia binary drivers, after emerging them 
run 'opengl-update nvidia', otherwise run 'opengl-update xfree'. Then make sure 
/usr/lib/libGL.{so,la} exist.

I just succeded to install kde 3.1 today. so yes I can say it is fixed.
