I was developing a program in python, and I ran into a problem that made me waste a few days, just because of a bug in python 2.4.3 (and because 2.4.3 is the latest stable version in portage, so that's what I was using). The bug was fixed in 2.4.4, along with lots of other bugs.

I've stabled 2.4.4 on Alpha, IA64 and x86. I'll let the other archs follow suit as they like but will ask them to stable 2.4.4-r1 about a month from now. Closing this bug for now.
