Hi there, i found a bug in vlc version 0.8.6. SPDIF is not working anymore. With the same config vlc Version 0.8.4a works fine. If you need additional infos no problem. Regards Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: =Reproduction= 1. Install vlc version 0.8.6.r1 2. Play a video file with A/52 Sound. 3. Choose as Audio Device: A/52 over S/PDIF. 4. Check your sound. Just noticed there is a patch now : https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/attachment/ticket/894/alsafix1.diff could you please try if it works and report upstream so that it can be fixed quicker ?

This was reputedly fixed in version 0.8.6d version, see http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/browser/tags/0.8.6d/NEWS Bug 201593 deals with the version bump.
this should now be fixed in 0.8.6d & svn snapshots in the tree
