Description Timo Boettcher 2007-04-01 22:50:56 UTC
On entering a new but, the user is prompted:
"Please paste all information from 'emerge info' in this section!"
emerge info says:
*** Deprecated use of action 'info', use '--info' instead
so, the website should be adjusted to --info, too.

There should be also instructions to attach the info if it's too large, instead of splitting it into multiple comments... see http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189202#c12

Well the original issue seems to be fixed so perhaps open a new bug.
Comment 3 Guenther Brunthaler 2007-08-17 10:17:10 UTC
This issue might actually be worsened if users make use of EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS.

When I was filing a bug report recently, I did an

# emerge --info

as instructed, but my EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS include the "--verbose" switch which made that output quite longer without me recognizing that fact.

So, it there is a way to undo the effect of a "--verbose" preset to "emerge" via the command line, it should be included in the prompt.

I have also created a discussion thread at

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-576528.html

about this question.

fixed. Please open a seperate bug for the --verbose defaultopts problem.
