pound 2.2.7 has been released on 2007-03-12 and all versions since 2.2.0 fix a lot of bugs and add new enhancements. http://www.apsis.ch/pound/ Reproducible: Always
pound-2.2.7 is considered experimental which is why it is not in portage... but i can see the need to get bugs fixed in 2.2...
ah, I found the stable/experimental list deep down on the page, sorry for that. I will bug them on their maillist first to know about their experimental / stable thoughts on the 2.2-line.
thanks - i think that would be the way to go... perhaps they can have a stable unstable scheme as the kernel used to have ie. 2.2.1 being bugfixes only, while 2.3.3 contains all the new features... i don't know.... i can still put in 2.2.7, but i would have to mask it, as i don't want people using the stable version 2.2 to upgrade to it...
I don't think it makes much sense to have it in there and masked. Lets hear first what/if they are going to answer to my mail about stable/experimental versions. Thanks a lot for your work!
Got a reply http://www.apsis.ch/pound/pound_list/archive/2007/2007-04/1175428182000#1175530126000 Seems like they are using "full" versions like 2.2.0 and 2.3.0 as "stable versions" and all other subsequent releases are experimental releases. So you can close this topic if you like.
yeah, i've seen the reply - but it is really not very satisfying... as you say yourself 2.2 has known bugs today...
We finally got a new stable release 2.3. http://www.apsis.ch/pound/pound_list/archive/2007/2007-04/1175703689000#1176298524000 And they are changing the version numbering. quote from that mail: --- Due to popular demand, in the future the interim release numbering shall be changed: - bug fixes to the stable release shall be numbered as 2.3.1, 2.3.2 and so on. - experimental versions shall be numbered 2.4a, 2.4b and so on. The next stable release shall be 2.4. In the unlikely event of more than 26 interim releases we'll consider tagging in Unicode.[...] ---
way cool - thanks for that. pound-2.3 is on the way to the rsync mirrors..
Great. Thanks a lot for your work on the ebuilds!
