emerge log

this happened twice but the log should be the same so i only attach it once.
Comment 2 Thomas Raschbacher gentoo-dev 2007-03-30 09:10:39 UTC
i got a similar error when trying to emerge crystalspace on the same machine earlier ... i think it might be a gcc + amd64 bug. CC'ing amd64 arch just in case.
i'll try updating gcc now and then update this bug.

Comment 5 Peter Avramucz 2007-04-11 15:58:04 UTC
I had also same symptoms with kmail and the kdeenablefinal use flag.
On #bmpx, they said, it's not a bmpx problam, maybe g++...
Comment 6 Milosz Derezynski 2007-04-11 16:05:59 UTC
I'd like to point out that this happens reportedly by muczy also with KMail compilation (also C++, also tons of templates (??)), so this is very likely a g++ issue, and has basically no place as a bmpx bug. This is not a bug about running the software, nor does compilation break because of a source code error.
Comment 7 Peter Avramucz 2007-04-11 17:40:38 UTC
I think that, setting MAKEOPTS to -j1 is a workaround.
Comment 8 Thomas Raschbacher gentoo-dev 2007-04-13 16:21:09 UTC
nope still eats up all my memory .. :(

and here's why i hate c++ :(
Comment 9 Peter Avramucz 2007-04-26 06:29:14 UTC
It seems like to me, that there is a sam issue also on ~x86 now... :S
Comment 10 Peter Avramucz 2007-04-26 07:35:32 UTC
Downgrading to =sys-devel/gcc-4.1.1-r3 lowers the memory "waste".
Please test also on ~amd64!
Comment 11 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-06-04 17:04:49 UTC
I've had same issue with bmpx, but also with imagemagick and boost. However, none of them cause any troubles when swap is enabled, which adds 1GB to my allready existing 1GB. It's not an amd64 bug.. getting in on x86.. but I've never even thought about opening a bug for lack of hardware. Pretty funny, IMO. I'd mark this as INVALID.
Comment 12 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-07-10 17:55:56 UTC
