Description Jan Molic 2003-03-10 20:22:57 UTC
1. I've installed on reiserfs. I've compiled kernel. Reboot. After emerging some
apps I need to recompile the kernel. After second reboot I can't run emerge and
man! Where is the problem?

2. I saw some symlinks from /usr disappears (emerge, grotty,...).
"ls emerge" >> nothing
but "touch emerge" >> input/output error!!!

3. I rebooted to Mandrake and symlinks in /usr exists!!!
I rebooted to Gentoo again and they arent there.
"rm emerge" >> not found
"touch emerge" >> input/output error

4. Symlinks are there, but I couldn't see them in gentoo :(

--------------------

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. install kernel with [*] reiserfs, reboot
2. emerge some apps, reinstall kernel, reboot
3. try emerge

Actual Results:
I tried reiserfsck. Everything was ok.

I reformatted harddisk and installed again. After some time and some rebootings
this situation is again.

Kernel logs are ok.

I build from scratch, using gentoo kernel, I only added some things in make
menuconfig ([*] reiser, [*] ext3, ide-scsi, sound, framebuffer, net)

This is diff of "ls -R /usr" from Mandrake and "ls -R /usr" from Gentoo (these
symlinks I don't see in Gentoo):

Comment 1 Jan Molic 2003-03-11 04:58:09 UTC
After one/two/three reboots symlinks are there again.
I don't know what matters, input/output error isn't normal behavior.
