Description Daniel Böhmer 2007-03-26 19:35:34 UTC
Hi there,

I've just installed claws-mail with USE flag spamassassin swichted on. Afterwards I tried to work out why it could not check incoming mails and found out that spamassassin was not installed on my system.

Isn't it possible to add this dependency to the ebuild?

Thanks
Daniel Böhmer, Germany

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. go sure that spamassassin is NOT installed
2. USE="spamassassin" emerge claws-mail -ap
3. find spamassassin not being in the list
Actual Results:
Claws Mail fails to check incoming mails

Expected Results:
Spam should be filtered

The truth is that claws-mail doesn't need spamassassin running _on local system_. It can easily be ran (or run?) on a remote computer as well.

I guess a warning in pkg_postinst() mentioning this would be appropriate, though... Any thoughts, Marius?

fine with me (I don't really know anything about the SA plugin)

On the other hand, we can't add postinst messages for everything. This one should be pretty obvious - the SA plugin even offers a big fat GUI option to set hostname/port where spamd is running.

It's kind of like making firefox depend on a webserver.
