The same test also fails on 1.1.5, so it's not a regression.
i imagine the test failed because uuencode was missing ... added sharutils to DEPEND for USE=test
I get the tmp/iamnotuser error also on system where sharutils were installed - that's why I'm saying there are two separate issues.

i only see one FAIL there ... the rest are warnings, not errors ... if the 1.6.5 ebuild has any FAILs, then open a new bug please
I still see the failure after having sharutils installed: PASS: t.mknod tartest: compare-tar: FAIL: t.tar PASS: t.truereturn However, as this is not a regression (all versions currently in the tree fail that test, including 1.6.5), I'm marking x86 stable.
