Description Dustin Polke 2007-03-23 21:53:00 UTC
I've found other bugreports about this, but I am not sure whether this is a dupe.
I am running a x86 stable system and since today I am experiencing the following problem:

All net dependent services are not started because only one of my network cards (a ethernet adapter configured as eth0 and a wireless lan card configured as ath0) is up. When a depending service should start, I always received the message that one network device is not up and, thus it is tried to be brought up. This fails of course and the service initialization fails with 'cannot start xxx because as net.{eth0,ath0} could not start".

I don't know what has caused this behavior, since I did not change any configuration. It started today after syncing and updating yesterday.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.configure two network device
2.only connect one
3.

Actual Results:
net dependent services do not start

Expected Results:
services start

I will attach my /etc/conf.d/net as well.

/etc/con.f/net

Just changed the SSIDs of my wireless lan adapter.

Strange, prob is gone.
I had added debug to my USE flag as well -g to my CFLAGS to try to track down a bug. I did an 'emerge --update --deep --newuse world'.

Now I reverted to my old config, recompiled the packages again and the issue is gone...

Since I do not know, which package caused this behavior or whether this is related at all, I close this bug as WORK...

Closing then.
