Description lance kincade 2007-03-23 18:29:37 UTC
another fellow and i have been chasing this for 03/09/07

these are the kernels i have tried

AMD 500MHz K6 SIS chipset
linux-2.6.15-gentoo-r1 linux-2.6.16-gentoo-r13 linux-2.6.19-gentoo-r5 linux-2.6.20-gentoo-r2

AMD 400MHZ K6 SIS chipset
linux-2.6.17-gentoo-r8 linux-2.6.18-gentoo-r6 linux-2.6.19-gentoo-r5 linux-2.6.20-gentoo-r2

the kernels from 2.6.19 on up that i have tried give me this:

PNP: PS/2 Controller [PNP0303:PS2K,PNP0f13:PS2M] at 0x60,0x64 irq 1,12
serio: i8042 KBD port at 0x60,0x64 irq 1
mice: PS/2 mouse device common for all mice
*** no serio: i8042 AUX port at 0x60,0x64 irq 12 ***

but on a PIII 500MHz that is all intel chips, but have only tried the 2.19.6-r5 and not the 2.6.20-r2 kernel i get:

PNP: No PS/2 controller found. Probing ports directly.
serio: i8042 KBD port at 0x60,0x64 irq 1
serio: i8042 AUX port at 0x60,0x64 irq 12
mice: PS/2 mouse device common for all mice

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.compile kernel -- no mouse
2.change some settings, recompile -- no mouse
3.over and over

Actual Results:
no AUX port on IRQ 12 for the PS/2 mouse

Expected Results:
create an AUX port on IRQ 12 for the PS/2 mouse

Please don't refer to pastebins when reporting bugs; they become useless in days. Reopen once you've attached all info here.

Comment 10 Dmitry Torokhov 2007-04-06 20:58:47 UTC
This may be due to broken AUX IRQ delivery test in 2.6.19. 2.6.21 and recent stable 2.6.20.x should have this issue resolved.
Comment 11 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-04-25 15:44:18 UTC
Dmitry, thanks for your advice.

lance, please attempt to reproduce on the latest development kernel, currently 2.6.21-rc7
