Description Jeremy 2007-03-22 21:58:05 UTC
Recently upgraded to new binutils, rebuilt entire system/world against new binutils. Wine then failed to compile. I tried to run revdep-rebuild but it repeatedly wanted to rebuild emul-linux-x86-baseilbs-10.2, emul-linux-x86-xlibs-10.0, emul-linux-x86-qtlibs-10.0-r1, emul-linux-x86-sdl-10.1, and emul-linux-x86-gtklibs-10.0-r1. Tried downgrading those packages to no avail. Looked through my logs notice I had upgraded my linux-headers, so downgraded those rebuilt system/world and wine still wouldn't compile. Then I noticed I also had recently upgraded my binutils so I downgraded back to binutils-2.17.50.0.12 recompiled system/world and wine compiled again.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge -1 =sys-devel/binutils-2.17.50.0.13 && emerge -1 glibc
2.emerge linux-headers glibc binutils gcc && emerge -e system && emerge -e world
3.emerge wine (compilation fails)

Actual Results:
Rebuild of system against binutils-2.17.50.0.13 caused wine to fail compilation

Expected Results:
Upgrading to binutils-2.17.50.0.13 shouldn't have caused wine to fail compilation (or should it have =P )

we cant read minds so without any real error output, there's nothing we can do

wine builds fine for me on amd64

revdep-rebuild output

revdep-rebuild would always complete successfully and then have the exact same output the following time.
Comment 4 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2007-03-24 22:25:53 UTC
and ? there's no build output let alone errors in that log

Added error section from the log...
Comment 7 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2007-03-25 01:11:34 UTC
no, you posted warnings, not errors

instead of trying to submit snippets where you think the problem is, post the entire log
Comment 8 Jeremy 2007-03-25 03:26:08 UTC
I thought I had already added the attachment for the log when I first posted and I had cleared my log directory since so I do not have the log any longer. Sorry the snippet was all I had left ( was on my post in the forums) I will try to reproduce the error and post the entire log. If I cannot reproduce the error I will let u know and then pls just post this as invalid or whatever.

I ran into the same error as Jeremy did. Here is my emerge --info.

Comment 11 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2007-03-31 21:25:31 UTC
that is unrelated to this bug ... that issue has been filed elsewhere and really, i dont think it's a wine bug at all
Comment 12 daedalus144 2007-04-01 01:53:27 UTC
Well the error output that I've attached is actually truncated. The rest is almost exactly the same as the build log that Jeremy attached so I assume this would be a similar case.
