called Infogroep.
It's currently syncing with rsync2.de.gentoo.org.

I've added your server to the access list for rsync1.us.gentoo.org. Please update your server to point to this server. Then, update this bug to let us know that's been done. We'll proceed to monitor the server over the next couple of days to see if everything is working ok and then add it to the rotation.
Comment 2 Yves Younan 2003-03-08 13:34:28 UTC
I've set the server to rsync1.us.gentoo.org and it seems to have updated correctly at
19.30 from this new server
Comment 3 Kurt Lieber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-03-08 13:43:57 UTC
Great -- we'll keep an eye on it over the next couple of days to make sure it's consistently updating, after which we'll add it to the rsync rotation.

Also, just for our records, can you provide some details on the server and bandwidth behind the box? (CPU, RAM and bandwidth)

Thanks again for helping Gentoo Linux.

Currently the machine itself has a link of 10mbit, which will be upgraded to 100mbit
soon. The link of my university to belnet (the belgian research network) is also
100mbit. For a graph of the traffic, check out:

testing the rsync mirror today produced:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
kurtl@x5 trashme $ !rsync
rsync -av 134.184.49.11::gentoo-portage/ /tmp/
This is the infogroep rsync mirror, currently mirroring:

can you try deleting the entire app-admin directory and re-rsyncing with rsync1.us.gentoo.org?

thanks.
Comment 6 Yves Younan 2003-03-09 18:22:19 UTC
I deleted everything and resynced, i was having trouble with some corrupted files
myself, it should be ok now...

Comment 7 Kurt Lieber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-03-14 08:57:01 UTC
ran a full rsync without problems. verified the timestamp was valid.

This server is now rsync1.be.gentoo.org. I've subscribed ig@igwe.vub.ac.be to the gentoo-mirrors@gentoo.org mailing list. (low-volume) That's where we communicate changes, etc. to our mirroring system.

Thank you for helping support Gentoo Linux!

rsync1.be.gentoo.org doesn't seem to resolve, i tried directly from gentoo's main ns
but that doesn't seem to know it either...
yyounan@laptop yyounan $ nslookup rsync1.be.gentoo.org ns1.3jane.net
Server: ns1.3jane.net
Address: 64.57.168.198#53

** server can't find rsync1.be.gentoo.org: NXDOMAIN

Comment 9 Kurt Lieber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-03-14 12:36:40 UTC
we just hadn't reloaded our name server yet. :) Should be working now.

root@cvs en # host rsync1.be.gentoo.org
rsync1.be.gentoo.org is an alias for igwe.vub.ac.be.
igwe.vub.ac.be has address 134.184.49.11
