Description Alex 2007-03-15 04:03:08 UTC
When clicking on the system tray icon, and clicking configure kpowersave, a warning dialog comes up saying cannot find any schemes, and nothing more. There should be a dialog to create the schemes from my understanding.

Reproducible: Always
Comment 1 Elias Probst 2007-04-10 18:33:07 UTC
Have you tried this?:
- stop kpowersave
- mv ~/.kde/share/config/kpowersaverc ~/.kde/share/config/kpowersaverc.old
- start kpowersave

Are you running >=sys-apps/hal-0.5.8?

If this problem still exists, please post the output of "qlist kpowersave" (if not available, emerge portage-utils) and "emerge --info".

Comment 3 Peter Avramucz 2007-04-14 08:15:31 UTC
I have this problem too.
Tried your "zero my config" method: no success.

emerge -pv hal:
[ebuild R ] sys-apps/hal-0.5.9 USE="acpi crypt pam -debug -dell -disk-partition -doc -pcmcia (-selinux)" 0 kB

I have attached the output of 'qlist kpowersave', however, i can't see any scehems... :-/

You're using KDE as Desktop Environment, right?

echo "=sys-apps/hal-0.5.9 -pam" >> /etc/portage/package.use
emerge -1 =sys-apps/hal-0.5.9
/etc/init.d/hald restart
/etc/init.d/xdm restart (Attention! Restarts your X server)

I have done this, but still no success...

I have the same problem, but if I start kpowersave as root, everything works as expected.

By the Way, why does the ebuild depend on powersave? As far as I know, kpowersave uses hal now and everything (except the problem described here) works fine without powersave...
Comment 8 Stefan Schweizer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-05-09 18:13:56 UTC
I masked this for now. Will wait for the next release to see if this gets fixed.
Comment 9 Robert A. 2007-05-15 23:00:36 UTC
i had the same problem with sys-apps/hal-0.5.7.1-r5 and sys-power/kpowersave-0.6.2
the solution was to add the desktop-user to the group "users" (see /etc/dbus-1/system.d/powersave.conf). no version upgrade was necessary.

My desktop-user is in the group "users", so this must be a different problem...
Comment 11 Robert Davis 2007-07-30 03:28:53 UTC
One way around the configure error is chmod 755 /usr/share/config dir.

I did this after having a run of kpowersave from root and now it works
