ipw2200 is hardmasked and scheduled to be removed from portage, folks were advised to move to in-kernel drivers a while ago. Which I've done, it works fine with that kernel.

I have noticed no difference. In the past the driver in kernel was not kept up to date, but today it is. It's actually nicer this way, no having to mess with emerging ipw2200 / ipw2200-firmware every single time a kernel change is made.

By the way, thanks for the work and effort, in no way am I trying to wave your work off.

no problems, thank you for your update and comments, i made the questions to know more about and this kind of information been documented, for me is nice to know that i could use the kernel drivers now, believe me is really a pain every kernel upgrade.

As said, this is package.masked and will be removed, use the in-kernel driver.
