Description Paul Thompson 2003-03-07 15:42:03 UTC
dhcpcd-1.3.20_p0-r1 is the only one that works on this box. The
more recent ones blow up, with bad ioctl and respawn so many
times they virtually lock up the machine. I suspect this may be
because I am running a 2.5 kernel. I havent tried it with a 2.4
kernel on this box because of other userland issues, such as LVM
tools only good for 2.5 kernel, etc. However I have tried the
latest dhcpcd on another box with a 2.4 kernel, and it did not
explode.
The problem may also be related to a configuration difference in
the networking options between my usual 2.4 and this 2.5 kernel
builds...
So, please consider keeping dhcpcd-1.3.20_p0-r1 in portage.

Thanks;
Paul
