Description Derek Dolney 2003-03-07 10:48:58 UTC
Whenever I run prelink -afmR, my computer fails when trying to remount
filesystems readonly at the next reboot.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.prelink -afmR
2.reboot
3.

Actual Results:
When the shutdown scripts try to remount filesystems readonly, they say

cat: /proc/cmdline: no such file
root password for system maintenance, etc.

It seems it succeeded in unmounting /proc. If I give the root password at this
point, and type "mount", it claims /proc and everything else is still mounted.
But umount /dev/hda3 complains that hda3 is not mounted. Also, I can 'ls' in
directories on /dev/hda3, and they are there, though /proc is not.

When the computer reboots, it says the filesystems were not cleanly unmounted.

Expected Results:
Should unmount filesystems and reboot normally, I think.

Unknown cause.
If it is a problem, don't use prelink
Comment 2 Stefan Jones (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-04-13 06:16:57 UTC
Try using the vanilla kernel, it fixed it for me. The gentoo kernel is bug ridden.
Comment 3 Derek Dolney 2003-04-14 14:56:25 UTC
This problem went away at some point. I'm not sure why, but it may have went away when I installed elfutils-0.76.

I'm still using gentoo-sources.
