Description Andreas Kotowicz 2003-03-07 09:20:31 UTC
I was pretty much annoyed that mozilla always crashed entering www.nba.com.
galeon showed the same behaviour. this happend to me with all mozilla 1.x
versions (up to current 1.3beta). So I started looking for the source. First I
thought it could be java - no, it wasn't. so I unmerged flash and voila, it
worked. last night I just for curiosity deleted the link to flashplayer.xpt and
what do i see? www.nba.com won't crash mozilla nor galeon. and all the other
problematic flash sites work aswell.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.start mozilla
2.type www.nba.com
3.wait till site loads

Actual Results:
mozilla disappears/crashes

Expected Results:
mozilla should just stay up and running

Portage 2.0.47-r8 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.2, glibc-2.3.1-r2)

still happens to me with netscape-flash-6.0.79
Comment 2 Martin Schlemmer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-03-09 17:40:51 UTC
You need blackdown-jdk-1.4.1 or a gcc3 compiled sun jdk/sdk.
Comment 3 Andreas Kotowicz 2003-03-10 03:43:43 UTC
I do have sun-j2sdk-1.4.1 installed (compiled with gcc3)

java-config --list-available-vms
[sun-j2sdk-1.4.1] Sun JDK 1.4.1 (/etc/env.d/java/20sun-j2sdk-1.4.1)

Hrm, ok. Try blackdown ?
Comment 5 Arnaud Boudou 2003-03-18 09:23:07 UTC
I had the same problem when I upgraded from netscape-flash-6.0.69 to netscape-flash-6.0.79
Comment 6 Andreas Kotowicz 2003-03-24 03:34:48 UTC
works for me now using:

mozilla-1.3-r1
sun-j2sdk-1.4.1
netscape-flash 6.0.79
