This really works just fine, and has worked for quite some time. No need to leave it masked, thanks. :)

Same here on amd64, openvpn-2.1_rc2 works great here.
Comment 2 Roy Marples (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-04-26 14:02:52 UTC
rc4 works even better.

However, it will remain in package.mask until I get time to improve the init, up and down scripts so user can override my assumptions if they need to.

Also, 2.0 works just fine as it is :)

rc4-r1 has got the needed init script improvements. Let's leave it masked for a bit longer as it's got an interesting patch for openvpn over IPv6.

A note: indeed also rc4-r1 works flawlessly (tested and used on amd64).

(I hope to see this unmasked in the nearby future; the personal reason being that our local universities require the 2.1 version.)

Really? From my testing they are compatible with each other (2.0 & 2.1 that is)

Hi Roy.

If that is the case, you are more than likely right.

My comment was based solely on the local universities' somewhat vague and non-technical wordings that 2.1 would be required (those could even refer to Windows clients). I can test this on my next visit (may take some time now that I am on vacation).
Comment 7 Roy Marples (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-09-14 13:09:08 UTC
It's unmasked now.
