Description Dave Nellans 2003-03-07 01:24:16 UTC
The newest "stable" Lolo-sources have a problem on my athlon MP-2400 dual machine.

The problem is that the machine seems to "freeze" every few seconds untill you
hit a key on the keyboard and then it will process for several seconds and
pseudo hang again. This process can go on indefinately with no ill affects.

This is definately a problem with one of the patches enabled because 1)
vanilla-sources 2.4.20 does not exhibit this problem and 2) disabling SMP in the
kernel config also aleviates the problem. I will start hunting the culprit down
if I don't hear from anyone that knows quickly which patch might be the problem.

This problem still exists in -r2_pre4 but has been corrected in -r2_pre5... can anyone speak to the exact patch changes between these two versions to keep this problem from coming back? lostlogic you listening?

I removed the O(1) sched patch from ck4. The issue you had I'm sure stems from this. I do
not think you'll have to worry about it being reintroduced any time soon. More info on patch
changes are in the Changelog.

Have a good one,
