Using FEATURES="-ccache -distcc" MAKEOPTS="-j3" , the install completed. I don't actually have any idea why, but... it's a fact.

Locked it to -j1 for now, notifying upstream about it

What do you mean by "locked it"?
Neither of the 2 ebuilds in portage enforces -j1, and it still tries to compile netdude in parallel, which makes installation phase fail.
Of course 
MAKEOPTS="" emerge netdude
helps, but I have just lost a few hours figuring that out :]
Could you please enforce MAKEOPTS="-j1"?
