This is to keep track of what needs to be updated *after* the 2007.0 release (don't want to change the template before then). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:

The installer said that the Gentoo Kernel Team is doing useless work or I didn't understood ... Is it a mistake ? This is coming from : http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-kernel.xml :: gentoo-sources is a kernel based on Linux 2.6, lightly patched to fix security problems, kernel bugs, and to increase compatibility with the more uncommon system architectures. Linux 2.6 is the current official stable kernel tree, and development is progressing rapidly. For highest performance, best hardware support, and its large new feature set, we recommend 2.6 over its older 2.4 counterpart. This is coming from the GLI : #: gli-dialog.py:1039 msgid "The Unaltered Linux Kernel ver 2.6+ (safest)" #: gli-dialog.py:1040 msgid "Gentoo's optimized 2.6+ kernel. (less safe)" -------------- What does it mean ? 1 - Traditionaly Gentoo is using GRUB isn't it ? 2 - write that LILO can read windows partitions is useless, GRUB can do it too ... #: gli-dialog.py:1108 msgid "LInux LOader, older, traditional.(detects windows partitions)" #: gli-dialog.py:1104 #: gli-dialog.py:1106 msgid "GRand Unified Bootloader, newer, RECOMMENDED" -------------- Perhaps could it be a good Idea to re-think sentences more like a non-advanced user would.
by "detects windows partitions" i mean that the installer will detect and configure windows partitions into Lilo, but not Grub yet. It may exist but is not stable.
(In reply to comment #6) > by "detects windows partitions" i mean that the installer will detect and > configure windows partitions into Lilo, but not Grub yet. It may exist but is > not stable So you're talking about the GLI abaility ? Does the Gentoo politic change in the 2007 version ? Isn't Gentoo traditionnaly using GRUB ?
The installer is deprecated.
