newer udev versions, specifically those that no longer provide /sbin/udev (at least >=udev-076), break all /sbin/rc prior to baselayout-1.12.5, resulting in spurious error from init that udev is "wanted but not available" and thus fails to start udevd at boot. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Boot with <baselayout-1.12.5 and >=udev-076. Actual Results: /sbin/rc emits an ewarn that udev was "wanted but not available": You wanted udev but support for it was not available! Please review your system after it's booted! Expected Results: udevd start
As /sbin/udev disappeared after udev-103, it should be enough to change these versions, correct?
Yeah, definitely not 076...
(In reply to comment #2) > Yeah, definitely not 076... Sorry, I didn't know exactly which version removed /sbin/udev (I'm not a udev expert), and I found an entry in a debian udev changelog that /sbin/udev didn't exist anymore in 076. I guess I read it wrong.
Fixed the relevant ebuilds (>udev-103) to depend on baselayout-1.12.5. Thanks for reporting that issue.
