Please change the dependency of vlc to net-misc/libupnp, since net-misc/upnp is dead, and is going away soon. libupnp is a fork of upnp, since upnp is dead upstream. I have reports of libupnp working just like upnp did, so it should work. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Better make sure there : you mean set upnp deps to something like : || ( net-misc/libupnp >=net-misc/upnp-1.2 ) ? switching completely to libupnp will not be possible as long as libupnp will remain in ~arch.
I know :-) I finally got every arch that has stable net-misc/upnp added as ~arch, so within a month (if all goes well), I'll be able to mark it as stable. Just leave the bug around, I'll poke you when libupnp goes stable.
For now all outstanding bugs in libupnp has been fixed, and I'm waiting for the 30 days to go, to mark it stable. It would be nice, if the vlc ebuilds could be fixed to depend on libupnp too, so it will use it, when upnp gets package.mask'ed :-) Depending on libupnp || upnp would work, since people with arch will get upnp (until libupnp goes stable), and people with ~arch will get libupnp.
ok cool ;) mind if I do that only for the "to come very soon" 0.8.6b version ? As I suppose you'll not kill upnp in the near future that should be fine. By the way, will you do a packagemove ? or is it inappropriate here ? if you don't I suppose people with upnp installed will not install libupnp with the || deps
changed to || deps for all vlc ebuilds feel free to nuke the || and set it to only libupnp when you'll be finished with that (as long as it doesn't add more repoman warnings to its already too long list...)
