The new pcmcia-cs-3.2.4-ebuild has a problem with the orinoco-airsnort-patch. It has a wrong download-location (should be http://airsnort.shmoo.com/orinoco-0.13b-patched.diff ?) Also, this one has only the ~x86-keyword, ppc and sparc are still at 3.1.34. Any reason for this? I think the gentoo-policy is to mark new ebuilds ~arch if they worked in previous versions and should work. And, is there a reason why the stable x86-ebuild is still 3.2.1? Same problem here - the missing orinoco-airsnort-patch prevents emerging pcmcia-cs-3.2.4.ebuild! :-/ Hmm, using ${P} in "http://airsnort.shmoo.com/${P}-orinoco-patch.diff" seems problematic when the only diffs available on the site seem to be 3.2.0 and 3.2.1. ;-) If possible please fix this - as I am quite keen on trying out my new Orinoco Card with the latest drivers... :-) Thanks a lot!
I've noticed that the orinoco drivers maintained on schmoo are somewhat out of date, and the monitor mode patches aren't getting updated as often as they should. An alternative are the wlan-ng drivers, which include promiscuous support without patching and support more recent versions. They support more recent versions of pcmcia_cs. Check out sourceforge for updates. Sorry if the info isn't useful to this distro -- I'm somewhat of a noob and haven't installed gentoo yet (but am anxiously awaiting my 1.4 disks!) Greg
