Please prevent ciaranm@ciaranm.org from sending mails to any gentoo mailing list. For reasons, please see the various threads on the -dev and -core mailing lists. I don't feel capable of summarizing all of them here.
Other than the large number of resources it has taken and continues to waste. You will have to justify this request somehow.
just to note that these two are tied together. when this becomes a policed distro, I will want no part of it, so I respectfully request infra to retire me simultaneous to any banning.

apparently, blubb tells me that people are under the impression he wants to get rid of me. I know of no such intention on his part. It was I who added to the bug's summary, and bugzilla's bug record will show that.
Infra: please put this on a hold. There is a lot of discussion about this right now and it's not everyone who would back this up.
I'm completely against censorship of any kind. You are free to not read his emails, but banning him (or anybody else) is nothing I will support. > For reasons, please see the various threads on the -dev and -core mailing > lists. You know what? I'm following threads only once in a while, I would ban 70% of all posters there. Reading -core and -dev is worse than reading spam, anyways.
(In reply to comment #0) > Please prevent ciaranm@ciaranm.org from sending mails to any gentoo mailing > list. No.

(In reply to comment #1) > Other than the large number of resources it has taken and continues to waste. > You will have to justify this request somehow. You already named my main reason. I think Gentoo would work a lot more efficient without his participation. The vast amount of time lost over the trouble he constantly causes is not worth it in my opinion.

People. This is not a YES or NO bug. This is not a bug to make idle threats about if somebody gets removed from a service you will quit. People have been unsubscribed/removed from services in the past and I'm sure more people in the future will also. blubb filed it. He alone has to justify it before any action can/will be taken and chances are infra would work with devrel on if it is the right/wrong decision. If a flamewar is brought to this bug you will likey find yourself removed from bugzilla. So don't do it!
This is not an infra bug as long as you are only discussing here. Reassigning.

Personal opinion, easily overidden. 1. The bug is devrel's; 2. We are not banning anyone from the mailing lists. You who want to ban ciaranm have been less civil than he has. 3. I don't know where the "retire seemant" comes from. If it's not from him, over my dead body. Regards, Ferris
Removing the '/ retire seemant' from the summary again. Too many people got a false impression from it. Seemant, please take your retirement request somewhere else, this bug is about one specific thing, namely banning ciaran from gentoo mailing lists. If you really feel the need to make it evident that you will retire if any banning occurs, file a new bug and mark it as dependency of this bug, though I personally view this as some sort of an attempt to blackmail devrel.
The Gentoo Council have instated a new Code of Conduct that covers bad behaviour on mailing lists and other forms of communication. The proctors group is being set up and will deal with flames on mailing lists in the future. As such Developer Relations is closing this bug and letting the proctors group handle any such issues in the future as decided by the Council.
