Description Steven Davies 2007-03-04 11:54:31 UTC
The Diskless Install Howto is missing a section mentioning that the conf.d/net file in the slave filesystem MUST include config_eth0=( "noop" ), or else the init script will try to restart the interface with DHCP, therecy severing the connection to the NFS server.

See http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Gentoo_Diskless_Install#Changing_conf.d.2Fnet

Reproducible: Always

Can you please verify this on your own machine and report your results, rather than just linking to gentoo-wiki.com? Around here, that is not considered to be any kind of valid, factual information.

Sorry, yes I have performed this on my own machine and it worked. I found the Wiki entry after finding the correct setting.
