I am trying to install conky with the bmpx use flat and noticed that it was masked via /usr/portage/profiles/base/use.mask. It references bug #162045, but there is not word on that being resolved. I run beep-media-player without any crashes etc. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge -pv conky 2. [ebuild R ] app-admin/conky-1.4.5 USE="X ipv6* truetype -audacious (-bmpx) -hddtemp -mpd -vim-syntax" 0 k 3. no bmpx support Expected Results: [ebuild R ] app-admin/conky-1.4.5 USE="X ipv6* truetype -audacious -bmpx -hddtemp -mpd -vim-syntax" 0 k
Edit: bug reference should be bug #162405
beep-media-player is no longer in the tree; dunno what you are running but we can't depend on non-existant stuff.
emerge -pv bmpx [ebuild N ] media-plugins/gst-plugins-ogg-0.10.11 0 kB [ebuild N ] media-plugins/gst-plugins-vorbis-0.10.11 0 kB [ebuild R ] media-sound/bmpx-0.36.1 USE="alsa hal* mad nls ogg* oss* python vorbis* -aac -cdparanoia* -debug -ffmpeg -flac -modplug -musepack -ofa -p2p -sid -theora" 0 kB ????

Eh; media-sound/beep-media-player != media-sound/bmpx; plus bmpx is still broken as you can see in bug #162405.
Guess I read the description wrong? I thought beep-media-player and bmpx were one in the same. * media-sound/bmpx Latest version available: 0.36.1 Latest version installed: 0.36.1 Size of files: 2,395 kB Homepage: http://www.beep-media-player.org Description: Next generation Beep Media Player License: GPL-2 Ok I will wait for the previous bug to get fixed then.
(In reply to comment #6) > Ok I will wait for the previous bug to get fixed then. That plus needs to get stabilized first; stable ebuilds cannot depend on unstable ones.
