Description Sebastian Schubert 2007-03-03 19:48:57 UTC
teTeX creates an extra folder for TeX files installed by portage since 10 Apr 2006: TEXMFSITE. Please use this folder or variable (in connection with kpsewhich) for the installation of emaxima.sty. There is a ready solution in the newest app-emacs/auctex ebuild (integrate it into an eclass?).

Created attachment 112791 [details, diff]
ebuild patch

Taken from app-emacs/auctex, just removed one local to be able to access the variable later.

As I wrote that check: The check is there to allow people a smooth installation when they have installed TeXLive without Portage (as we have no current and working version in the tree for that, only teTeX). For a smooth operation with the official tree only the setting to TEXMFSITE is needed. The for loop is also needed as users could set various directories in their config (they shouldn't though!) for TEXMFSITE.
There will be no collisions anyway as maxima.sty is not part of any TeX distribution I know of. Using a separate tree as TEXMFSITE is, is a good nevertheless.
