After i changed my USE flags for openoffice, the startup splash-screen did not disappear when starting with oofromtemplate2. It disappears when i have successfully opened a document. This is a bit annoying as the startup splash is in front of the file chooser so i have to move the chooser to select the file i want to open. Unfortunately i have changed more then one USE flag. I added branding, gtk and firefox. emerge -pv openoffice These are the packages that would be merged, in order: Calculating dependencies... done! With Openoffice-2.1 the splash screen did not disappear too. But the splash screen is now behind the file chooser, so it is not bothering me anymore!
Can't reproduce this, which desktop / window manager are you using, maybe that's the problem here
(In reply to comment #3) > Can't reproduce this, which desktop / window manager are you using, maybe > that's the problem here I am using XFCE with XFWM4, but it is also happening with Beryl!
(In reply to comment #3) > Can't reproduce this, which desktop / window manager are you using, maybe > that's the problem here > As this is happening only with oofromtemplate (not with any other component of openoffice) and the splash is now behind the file chooser, i think many people did not recognize this at all. This is not a problem for me any more and if this is not the case for others this bug could be closed.
Do you still get this with 2.3.0?
(In reply to comment #6) > Do you still get this with 2.3.0? > I didn't recognize that version 2.3.0 already went stable, as i have no access to my box the next two weeks! I will try the new verson when i have access and report back here! Thanks for your effort, Daniel

If you start oofromtemplate from the console, is there some output? Also: Could you please try to do a clean user profile (move ~/.ooo-2.0 away to a safe place so that you don't loose it for nothing if this doesn't help ;) ), and see if that helps?
(In reply to comment #9 and comment #10) Thanks for your response, I will try your suggestions in the evening. When I have time I could also try to revert the use settings and remove the gtk and the firefox flag (branding already disappeared). Should I re-emerge openoffice, I have seen you silently bumped to 2.3.0.3 without changing changing version number.

Re-merging most likely will not help either (as you have that problem for sometime now), but on the other hand, you'll get a bunch of bugfixes at least, so... ;)
(In reply to comment #10) > If you start oofromtemplate from the console, is there some output? No error messages are displayed when starting it from the console. Curios I tried "oofromtemplate --help" which is not a valid option and the splash screen did not appear. Also i can force no splash with the -minimized and -invisible option. > Also: Could you please try to do a clean user profile (move ~/.ooo-2.0 away to > a safe place so that you don't loose it for nothing if this doesn't help ;) ), > and see if that helps? > Doesn't help either! I found out that it also happens with Impress and Base. All other components start directly with an empty document. Oofromtemplate, impress and base need some user interaction before getting an empty document. Maybe it is indeed a xfce-problem, or do you use xfce too?
It looks like the problem is fixed now. Unfortunately i can not tell if it is the bump to openoffice-2.3.1 or xfce-4.4.2.
Still: Counts as fixed ;) Closing
