It'd be ok if ruby-svg ebuild installs samples provided with it.

I'll grab this if no one minds. I see some other stuff in the ebuild I don't like, so I'd like to kick that too.

This is fixed in CVS, thanks. Not sure if you're too worried, but there were a few problems with your patch. Although you added example to IUSE, your patch would always install the examples, and we usually install examples in a directory under the docs dir, which is usually /usr/share/doc/${PF}/examples.
