Description Mario Scalas 2003-03-05 15:04:33 UTC
Just noted that:

bash-2.05b# man m4
fgets: No such file or directory
Error reading man page /usr/share/man/man1/m4.1.gz
No manual entry for m4

Does the M4 man page exist?

bash-2.05b# ll /usr/share/man/man1/m4.1.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 25 Dec 4 21:07 /usr/share/man/man1/m4.1.gz

Wow! 25 bytes ... gzip is a worderful compressor but I believe that there is
something wrong here ...

info m4 works correctly (Using latest gentoo packages to date).
Comment 1 Mario Scalas 2003-03-05 15:06:05 UTC

But it seems there is a fix:
re-emerge the m4 package ...

It looks like the 1.4_Rc2 M4 man page was corrupted in some way ...

(whoever bug-hunter reads it it may be marked as closed ;)

roger ;)

if looks like it came from a stage file ... stage files usually nuke doc's on
purpose to save space since at some point you'll re-emerge the pkg anyways ;)
