New vmware-server was released on 2/28/07.
I am testing a new ebuild for 39867 over here (this was a simple rename/version bump.) As this release is supposed to be a basic bug fix release, this *should* work fine. I will attach the ebuild. Testing over here on Gentoo/AMD64 - appears to be functioning quite nicely. -Daniel

Thanks, I only just saw the bug and I've got the new version building. It'll go in the overlay sometime this evening, and will probably go out to the main servers on Sunday or Monday after I've had a chance to do some testing... 5:)
I won't be using the gentoo vmware-server-console ebuild for the stuff I'm doing at work, so I won't be able to test that or work on an ebuild for it. vmware-server-console should probably be bumped at the same time, since the versions of vmware-server and vmware-server-console need to match exactly, otherwise things can "sort of" work but you get RPC errors. (RPC error -2, etc.)
Don't worry Daniel, I've been handling the vmware-server ebuilds since their inception, I've bumped them both and checked to make sure the vmware-modules we use still work with this revision. 5;) They're both in the vmware overlay at the moment. I've also bumped the vmware-server-tools ebuild in the overlay but haven't verified whether this builds with the latest kernel yet (which was a problem). They're still in testing since they've always been notorious at being a pain to install right. Also when I get around to it, we'll be removing the local console that comes packaged with server, so that we can maintain a minimum set of dependencies for people who want to run a headless (without X) server, so I'd still recommend using vmware-server-console for all your access to the server... 5:)
Ok, I've just checked this into the tree, so please give it a couple of hours to synchronize, then emerge --sync and enjoy! If there's any problems, please reopen this bug... 5:)
