Also fails on ~x86 due to the undefined reference to art_alloc(unsigned int) and art_free(void*).

media-libs/libart_lgpl-2.3.18 is installed on this box.

Please try upgrading to media-libs/libart_lgpl-2.3.19-r1 and recompiling. 2.3.18 and 2.3.19 both caused issues with kdelibs which were fixed with the -r1 release.
